Is El Salvador safe for an Expat?

I feel like most of the comments are very ignorant and only based off of statistics. Yes there are dangerous areas of El Salvador. When I've visited I simply avoid these areas, it's that simple. Same way I avoid going in to east oakland or richmond. To see the true beauty of El Salvador you have to travel outside of San Salvador to the beaches, the countryside and the mountains. You will find danger almost anywhere you travel but you should not let that limit your experiences.
